Department of Computer Technologies Engineering

   The Department of Computer Technologies Engineering is one of the main departments that has been recently established at Shatt Al-Arab University College at the beginning of the academic year 2021-2022.

 

   The main message of the Department of Computer Technology Engineering is to qualify the students with the necessary specialized knowledgeand scientific and logical thinking. An appropriate academic milieu is prepared to supply the students with the reading and research skills required for their specialty. Hopefully, our graduates would promote computer technology engineering sector in Basra and in Iraq at large. 

 

Vision

   The Department seeks to qualify graduates able to meet the requirements of the labor market, conduct theoretical and applied research, and provide advisory and educational services to various sectors of society.

      

 

Mission and Goals 

 

• Qualifying cadres able  to identify and solve complex engineering problems by applying the principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.

• Having the ability to apply engineering design to bring out solutions that meet specific needs while taking into account public health, safety and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental and economic factors.

• Promoting the ability to communicate effectively with the members of the community.

• Recognizing the ethical and professional responsibilities in various engineering situations. There is also need to make informed judgments, which must take into account the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental and social contexts.

• Getting ready to carry out team work with the aim of creating a collaborative and cooperative environment, setting goals, planning tasks, and achieving goals.

• Getting prepared to conduct appropriate experiments, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgments to draw conclusions.

• Being qualified to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

• Qualifying graduates specialized in computer technology engineering who are able to contribute positively to serve their community.

• Meeting the needs of educational institutions through preparing highly qualified cadres.

• Encouraging scientific research and publication in our field of specialization.

• Supporting the students' scientific knowledge to link the theoretical aspects with practical applications.

  • Upgrading students' abilities to undertake scientific research and continuous education.

  • Preparing a generation of qualified academic researchers with the necessary scientific competencies that enable them to conduct scientific research in the fields of computer science and engineering.

• Encouraging communication with specialists in the various fields of computer and engineering at the local and global levels.

   The Department adopts the annual (four-year) system, during which the student studies various basic and related topics.

 

Department laboratories

 

   The Department has several laboratories specialized in programming languages, the basics of electricity, networks and others, including advanced computers that are updated in line with the up to date programs.
